another surgery

These pictures are late. JD had surgery in July this year. I am still playing catch up. I am almost there.

How the day started..

JD woke up not feeling well. He would throw up about every 15 minutes. He had severe pain in his stomach. I drove him to the ER, after dad told him he had to go. He did not want to go. They did all the necessary tests in the ER... Then.. we found out that JD was one sick guy. If he would of not went to the hospital, he most likely would of went to his heavenly home. TO close for me. Why do guys have to be so stubborn??? He spent 14 days in the hospital, after they removed his ruptured appendix. After the surgery he still could not keep anything down. They had to run a few more tests on him. They thought his iliac (sp) was just sleeping, then they thought he had a blocked colon, then a pinched colon. He just would not stop throwing up.

He was so wanting to eat. Mom can you bring me some ice cream? He would try and it would come right back up. He not only had his appendix removed, but the area where they had his IV site, where the liquid nutrition food was being fed, was infected. Swollen, red and hot. The strange thing is we never really found out why he would not stop throwing up. He just finally stopped. Answer to prayer.

During his stay, he was finally able to get up and walk around. So we brought his puppy to come see him. It has been so many days and he had lost 30 pounds. She was not sure who he was. Then he came up to the car and called her. Then she just licked him all over the face. She was so excited. :D It was cute to watch.

Thank you to all who were praying and visiting him during this trying time.

We took the kids into the city for a day trip. We had my nephew Richard visiting from OK and we had the girls friend, visiting from the east coast. We decided it would be fun to take the bart into the city.. They were getting nervous about riding the tunnel under the water.. For lunch we went to Subway. It is fun to watch the look on peoples faces when they see our large group. There was no one in line at subway, but when we were done ordering the line was out the door. With all of us there. It must of seemed something good was going on and nobody wanted to miss it..
All in all it was a fun day...

We were trying to find things to keep a bunch of teenagers busy. So we decided to take them to the orchards. Boy we picked a great day! I am being sarcastic. It was so HOT! To HOT!
The season was almost at its end. We were able to taste the peaches as we were picking them. YUM! We ended up picking about 20 pounds. We made Peach pie and jam..

Knee Surgery

Here Chris is getting ready to go into surgery. He got to watch some pretty cool TV. We were also giving him a bad time. He did not want us to take his picture, but you know me. I need them for my blog. We also gave him a bad time because he is so tall and his feet were hanging off the bed.

He had to have surgery because, apparently he had broken his knee cap. Could of been from our accident many years ago, or volleyball. We are not really sure. So they went in and drilled some holes to awaken the bone and have it re-heal it self and put a screw in there. Scraped off the extra scare tissue and extra bone hanging and made him like new.

He did well, but came out from his deep sleep swinging. It took 6-7 nurses to hold him down. When they finally let him go. You could tell he was mad and ready to get out of there. They say it is normal for boys his age to act that way. Glad to know that, because that is so out of character for Chris.

It has been a long time since I have seen my nephew's Mom and family. We had good memories and sad memories. Memories of my brother, that past when my nephew was just 3 years old. It was a better sweet reunion. We got out the pictures of my nephew when he was 3. We talked about his dad and how he is a lot like him. We even had the privilege of having his God dad come and visit. My brother's best childhood friend. We talked and talked. It had been 15 years since we have seen them, but it was just like yesterday that day.

This is the day that all children look forward to. This is the day, that parents wonder where the time went. A day to reflect how fast their child has grown, how much their child has matured and how much they have accomplished. As I look back over the years. I wonder where the time has gone. I can't believe that my little boy is now 18 and graduating. I am proud of Chris and all the accomplishments that he achieved during his High School years. He is now on a new journey in life. We are proud to call him our son. We are very excited for what the future will hold. Chris, keep you eyes focused on the Lord. He will take you, were you would have never thought to go. We love you. Keep your head up high and be proud. You did it! Way to go!

This is how I spent the first 6 weeks of summer.. It all happened because I was trying to avoid not getting stung by some bees. They scare me! :D I was walking through the ground cover, not seeing them till it was time for my next step. I thought I would jump to avoid them all together, but when I jumped my calf muscle went "SNAP, CRACKLE, POP!"
Can you say OUCH!!!

Well, I am all better now. Well.. sorta of.. I fell again. This time in that sweet girl store called VS.. YeaH, I was carrying out my cute little pink bag when down I went.. Thanks to them not picking up a piece of the display case(plastic) off the floor. Luckily I have no armor to wear this time. Just a sore knee and hip.. Boy am I clumsy as I get older......

June 3,2009. The day started out nice and sunny, but in the end it started to rain. So we sat there enjoying the rain fall. On us all. Some of the kids were trying to hide under their gowns. It was actually refreshing. The still went on with the ceremony. So guess who graduated from middle school? Jacob and Tamara. Now the two of them are headed to High School. Way to go! You too..

Friday May 15th, 2009. My step dad was remarried. It has been a little over 1 year since Mom has past. I am happy for him, that he was able to find a wonderful wife. She is a very nice gal. Talks alot. LOL.. She has 4 children 3 of which are special needs. Great kids. She is perfect for Sterling and Crystal ( Sterling's daughter she is special needs) She has Spinal Bifida.
The evening was lovely. The setting was in Lakeport, Ca on the beautiful Clear Lake. It was at a bed and breakfast. The nicest thing was that the older gentleman that my mom used to take care of was there. They call him grandpa, they introduced me to him and showed me something my Mom made for him. It was a joyous day to celebrate life and new beginnings.

For Mother's Day. My sis n law planned this amazing day for us to go to Discovery kingdom and feed the dolphins. What a cool way to spend Mother's Day. I was sad that Dad had to work though. I enjoyed the day with the kids. Before we left I did wake up to some beautiful cards that they made me. I even had a posted size card. They were beautiful and well thought out.

A sad day!

It was a sad day. A day that we had to say good bye to our cat Bandit. He was 12 years old. He was not doing well the last few months. We thought that he just had a thyroid problem. He weighed in at 5 pounds. We put him on some meds, but he did not get any better. He was not eating, not using the cat box. Then one day I came home from work and he had past. It was sad, but we were glad he was not in anymore pain. We dug a hole in the backyard and now their he lays. We will miss his sweet kisses and his moments of pawing us. He loved to hold our fingers. Sweet dreams little buddy. We will miss you..

I sure have neglected my blog the last few weeks. I have many photos to share and daily happening. But as you see. I haven't posted a thing. I have been working for the last few weeks and this time of year is our busiest with volleyball...I forgot how hard it is to run a household and work full time.

A break thru..

Monday night, I came home from class. The kids were already for bed, chores and bible reading done. Then I walked into the kitchen and noticed that someone did not finish their chores.

You see on Monday's when Dad and I have class. I usually let the kids get their own dinner. (ex. soup, sandwich) When they do this they are all responsible for getting their dishes into the dishwasher, but it is also the person's job who has that chore for the week to make sure it is done. If not then they are responsible to take care of it. Well, this particular Monday, they seemed to think they were not. So they left it. I asked them to come downstairs to do it. They were mad, and it seemed to them that it was appropriate to be rude and disrespectful.

So, we knew that once the dishes were done it was going to be time to have a chat. I just love those late night chats. So as we talked about what we thought were responsibilities of a family. What are the responsibilities of being in the family. They proceeded to tell Dad and I, that we weren't a family. So we asked why. We sat there for quite a few hours with a whole lot of no talking going on. We compared family life in Ukraine to family life here. There were alot of similarities. So we were confused about why they thought we were not a family. We were told that families LOVE each other, take care of each other, do fun things with each other, talk nice to each other. So we asked then, if that is what families do and that we do all these things, and if all these things (that they felt made a family) were done to them in Ukraine, then why did they feel the need to treat the family the way they do?

BINGO... that is when the Lord spoke to me and I felt I was to ask a particular question. Are you being so mean, because your heart has so many hurts and pains?

Then that's when... Break thru.. They said YES!. WOW! I thought. HONESTY, what a great thing. Then I asked well do you WANT us to LOVE you? The answer was YES! WOW! Another break through. So we talked about choices. We talked about what they could do to help our family seem like a family to them. They want to change the negative behavior, but do not seem to think they can. We know that it is hard to TRUST someone. Especially an adult. Since all the adults that you previously ever had contact with failed, abused, and or abandoned you.

We are excited to see this Break thru take place. You see this particular child does not show emotion. The particular child keeps her feelings other then anger locked up. So now we just need to work on our child letting us LOVE them, without feeling stressed of the outcome. We talked about how we are not perfect parents and that we make mistakes. But the bottom line is, that we will continue to Love them anyways. We won't love the behavior, but we still love the person.

Football Clinics

Jake is going to be starting HS in July. He wants so bad to play Freshman Football. They are starting their clinics, so here he is enjoying what he enjoys. He is the one in the Burgundy shorts. He is the smallest out there it seems. Just weighing in at 92 pounds. His feet are growing though. He put on his cleats, from Flag football and they were crushed in the shoes. He wore them anyways. OUCH!

Look how BIG she is getting. She is such a cutie. She is trying to find her pecking place between Abby and her. It is not pretty, but how can you not love that face??

Here she is tired from playing with the pups. She has already had her first ER Vet visit. She decided to get into the outside garbage. She ate a little of whatever was in there. She was not felling well, and was starting to blow up like a balloon. So JD took her to the vet. She was fine. He just had to restrict her for the night from her food. Poor thing wasn't even hungry, so she was OK with that.

Our Bread is Dead!! Part 1...

We started to make Paska bread for Easter. It has been 2 years since we made it the last time. Mike and I thought it would be nice for Olya and Nadya to enjoy some Ukrainian tradition.

The bread was not rising, like it was supposed to. So we tried to rise it in the microwave... We got this, and we still ate it. With some Jelly.

So Nadya decided to play with the other dough and made these...She is very talented.

After she was done playing we attempted to bake it anyways. This is what we got..

I swear they must of weighed 5 pounds..

During all the face making and preheating the oven, someone had closed my Ukrainian dish cloth in the oven. I smelled something burning and opened the oven and it was on fire.. So here is what got burned. Not to bad.. All in a days work.. LOL..

Just a quick note to have you praying for a few in the family...

Chris was at volleyball practice and one of his team mates was mad so he kicked the ball. Guess who it hit? That's right Chris.. He was already sitting down, but the force of it caused him to fall to the floor, knock off his glasses and make his nose bleed. So after talking with the coach, I thought it was best we took him to Kaiser.. Plus he had a huge head ache( Chris is not one to have them) and was dizzy. The Dr said he has a mild concussion and has to take the week off from volleyball and any strenuous activities..

Also my younger brother Gary, he lives in Alaska he was airlifted today. He had a bad attack of pancretitis (sp?). He never had this before. So he will now be in the hospital for 2-5 days.

I love to BBQ.. We decided to take advantage of the nice sunny weather and have some Tri tip, roasted red pototoes in olive oil and kosher salt, with a green salad.. Strawberries on the side.. I love warm weather and the time we get to spend outside.

Here is the sub... We have 2 very lovely ladies that were in our youth group. We like to play tricks on eachother.. Fun tricks, ones that do No damage. So on Sat night around 11, when all the kiddos were swimming. The girls, we call them Barbie and G.P. (grannie pannies.. Long story) The girls came and decorated our cars. So when we headed to Church on Sunday morning we had a nice surprise....

Here are Mike and JD's truck..Mike left for work when it was still dark so he did not see it until he got home that night. JD just thought that we wrote more on his truck windows.. LOL..

So....... We knew it was them, they left certain words that gave it away. They tried to say it was not them.... The texting went back and forth for a few hours, then they finally fessed up.. We knew it... But during those texts we told them.....

We told them that we had them on Video. We did not, but they fell for it. During the time when they were watching the video of Gerald and Jake play them, we got their car.. I wish I could upload the video, but it is on our home camera. Which is a dinosaur.. It is hilarious... They got a good laugh out of it. Now they are trying to get us back.. Toma keeps asking them.. She is scared. I told her not to be. It is all out of fun.. :D

Most 21st birthdays are spent getting so messed up, we thought we would show him those colors. I am proud to say that JD did not get messed up, that he had those colors come back up....LOL.... :D

I have to brag about Chris tonight. We went to watch him play volleyball. They played 4 games. He did not play until the last part of the 4th game. Yes, I was a peeved mom on the sidelines. Chris has played with this coach for 3 yrs now, but she still does not know what TEAM sports mean.. Anyways....

They play 5 games. In order to win someone has to win 3. Heritage won the first game, lost the second game, and then won the third and fourth games back to back.

Well, back to the exciting part, Chris made the winning point in the last game! It was a close game, and I was excited that Chris was part of it. The one who got the ACE. He spiked it in and over the net, BAM... Nobody could catch that ball.....Way to go Chris!!!!

Today Chris had an MRI on his knee. The Dr. had found a cyst/mass on it. So she said she wanted to do an MRI. We should know the results in a few days. Please prayer for Chris as God leads you.

Thank you for all who have sent me get well wishes. I am doing great. I am just really tired, that is why it has taken me so long to get these posts up.

Most people want to know what happened. Well, I will try and be specific as I can without embarrassing myself...

I already had surgery scheduled for April 2... In the beginning it was supposed to be in Feb, but my Dr tore her knee. So she had to have surgery herself.. I did not have any problems seeing that I could not wait. So I decided I would instead of seeing another Dr..

Well, I had a polyp that was growing for sometime, but went unnoticed. It decided to cause some severe bleeding.. So much that I could not get to the E.R for a least 45 min. It would not stop! I said a prayer to God asking/telling him I needed it to stop, long enough so I could get to the E.R. Well he immediately answered that prayer. It stopped long enough to get there and get into the room to see the Dr. Well, as soon as she did her exam, it started again and did not stop until they took me in for surgery..
Surgery went well. It took 1 hour. They said the polyp was about 3 inches long. That was the first question I asked. LOL... I am excited to say that I felt well after the surgery. I did not even get sick. I usually do. They took such good care of me. I felt so special. I had a Dr. (Not mine she was still out) I had 2 anesthesiologist, and 2 nurses. :D

I am doing alot better. They have put me on some hormone pills, so I am quite moody.

Plus now I need to take 2 iron pills a day. Just got to love that!!

My girlfriend is a Grandma. Here is the new little one. This was the girls first time holding a newborn. I had to share. He is so cute. He was a month early and still weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Boys and their toys. Jacob and his friend Blake spent the afternoon playing paint ball. They made up their own little course. After a while they decided to take it out into the open field. Volleyball, orientation and Dr appointments...

It is that time of year. They had tryouts for Volleyball. Chris made varsity. Toma made the 8th grade team. WAY TO GO! We should know on Thursday if Olya and Nadya made the 7th grade team.

We had HS orientation. I cannot believe that Jacob and Tamara will be starting HS in July. Tamara is not excited. Jacob is very excited. It was nice to run into one of his friends from his old school. We are hoping (his mom and I) that they will reconnect and hangout. They were always together, he is a great kid.

We have had a few DR appointments. Chris is going to PT for his knee. He is getting ready to see the surgeon. Just to get some images of the inner knee.

The girls are starting counseling to help with their pasts. I am very excited to start this with all of them. Julianna was first, she was not happy, but she has been very happy the last few days. I think that she understand that we are trying to help her know who she truly is and be happy with herself, not make her forget about life before becoming a Nealey.

Life has been busy as usual, but with all the rain I really wish we could just stay in.

The puppy(Jasmin) is doing good. She is finding out who is in charge. She is going for her first vet visit tomorrow. She is growing so fast. She has started that game of chase. Oh boy! That sure is frustrating, but yet cute..

Kids are home. We need to get homework done and head to youth group. Till the next post... :D

I'm a GRANDMA!!!

Well, not officially. My oldest son now has his first pet of his own. I was not sure if I was ready to be a grandma, but I guess I will take it in animal form. :D She is a 12 weeks old. Her breed is a Red Nose Pitt Bull. She was given to him by his friend, who was tired of puppy/potty training. Oh boy! That is a sore spot with me...

Well, I had to share my first Granddaughter. LOL.. She is a cutie. Not sure how much she weighs.

The big boys just LOVE her. Abby on the other hand had a few... letting know who is the boss moments today. The big boys, were teaching her to chill and eat pig ears. It is very cute to watch her follow what they do. She is doing really good. I got/had to babysit her today, while her daddy went to work. We mopped the floor together. Well, she actually was trying to eat the mop and was chasing it while I pushed it back and forth. She had only 2 accidents in the house, Not bad.

JD is crate training her and she will bark when she first goes in. We told JD what he needed to do. Which is to spray her with the water bottle, or to have a soda can with pennies in it. Shake it when she barks. She is so smart, she has already learned. She will now whine for about 5 min, then off to sleep she goes or just lays there quietly.

This afternoon we went with our youth group. Well a few of them and gave out door hangers. Inviting them to church. While we were walking we came across some fruit.

My kids love fruit. So we asked the homeowners if we could pick some. As you see we got a green light. Then we came across these GIANT lemons. Yes, that is a lemon. We cut them open to see how big they really were. We were surprised to see that they were quite big. I did not eat one. The girls said they were YUMMY!!! The oranges are so sweet. They will all be gone I am sure before the weekend is over. :D
